Daniel Binder is a partner at Columbus Consulting, focused on Merchandising Supply Chain and Digital Strategy. He has more than 30 years of global retail experience across department stores, the world’s most-demanded luxury brands, travel retail, wholesale, sourcing and digital retail channels. Daniel was formerly president of DFS, a luxury travel retailer across 16 counties and a division of LVMH based in Hong Kong. While at DFS, Daniel led the global Merchandising and Planning organizations, Merchandise Finance, Supply Chain that included Warehousing, Freight Management, and Regulatory, and collaborated with the top globally demanded luxury brands to curate product assortment that appealed to multiple nationalities across the world. Daniel led significant structural re-engineering within the organization, instituted numerous innovations, and was enlisted to champion the company’s rapid transition to travel retail’s version of global e-commerce, omnichannel, and digitalization, coined Reimagining Travel Retail (RTR). He delivered the company’s first fully digital store in Venice Italy, created its first commercial website, and launched Travel Retail’s first Mini Apps through WECHAT. Additionally, Daniel digitized travel partner relationships, launched digital payments with WECHAT and ALLIPAY worldwide, and was the first travel retailer to automate online DETAX systems. Daniel also serves a number of global companies as a senior advisor and sits on boards of private-equity-backed companies.
